How to Join and Create Crowds on uSync

Crowds on uSync are groups of users who are all interested in a certain topic, whether it’s mountain biking, floral arrangement, or reading detective novels. A Crowd can really be about anything. The beauty of uSync is that it allows you to find other users with similar interests, no matter how obscure you think your taste might be. Who knows, maybe your obsessions have wider appeal than you expect.

Most new users will start by searching for Crowds to join. To do so, simply use the search feature in the menu bar to type in topics that might interest you. From the feed of content that appears, you can see which ones are Crowds. Once you click on a particular Crowd, you can choose to join, see who else is a member, read the content that’s there, and add your own thoughts in the comments section.

Starting your own Crowd is just as simple and straightforward. In fact, you can start one in less than five minutes, then add more content as the Crowd grows and develops. Here’s what you do:

  1. Title your Crowd. Try to have the basic idea clearly stated here, as it will help others find your Crowd and know what it’s about right away.
  2. Add a cover image.
  3. Add a description.
  4. Determine privacy settings. uSync allows you to choose whether you allow every user to see your Crowd or have it be by invitation only. The latter option can be useful if you’re planning an event, like a wedding or trip.

Now that you’ve got the basics down, here are some things you can do to make your Crowd more engaging:

  1. Add events. These can be single events, festivals, conferences, or trade shows. For each event, you can add a range details, including sections for galleries, guests, surveys, and comments.
  2. Add stories whenever you’re browsing uSync and see a Story that’s relevant to a Crowd you’ve created or a part of.
  3. Invite other users to join.

uSync’s goal for the Crowds feature was to make it easy for users to find people and content relevant to their interests. Whatever you’re into, you can be sure to find a Crowd for it on uSync. If not, why not make one yourself?
